The TGA explains that product claims, ingredients or composition, and how a product is used are considered together when determining whether it is a cosmetic or therapeutic good. A “prostaglandin-free” label describes an ingredient attribute; it does not establish suitability for a particular extension or lift service. How should you assess your lashes?
A study of eyelash cycles found a complete cycle of 90 ± 5 days in the participants studied (Thibaut et al., 2010). That does not establish a universal result timeline for cosmetic serums. Review evidence for the specific finished formula and follow its directions.
If you wear extensions, they obscure the natural lash line. Follow professional aftercare and assess the appearance of your natural lashes when extensions are removed; individual results vary.
A label checklist before you buy
- Full ingredient list? Share it with your technician; do not infer compatibility from one ingredient or a front-label description.
- Prostaglandin-free? Check the list does not include isopropyl cloprostenate or any "…prost" ingredient name.

What does “extension-safe” mean on a lash serum label?
“Extension-safe” and “extension-friendly” are marketing phrases, not an official certification. The same goes for “oil-free”.
